A map represents the five geographic areas of Washington State that participants reside in: Northwest, Central Puget Sound, Southwest, Central, and Eastern. Numbers on the map indicate the participant distribution as compared to the population distribution. The Northwest region has a six percent share of the state’s population and six percent of pilot project participants were from this region. The Central Puget Sound region has a sixty two percent share of the state’s population and sixty percent of pilot project participants were from this region. The Southwest region has a nine percent share of the state’s population and six percent of pilot project participants were from this region. The Central Washington region has a thirteen percent share of the state’s population and thirteen percent of pilot project participants were from this region. The Eastern Washington region has a nine percent share of the state’s population and thirteen percent of pilot project participants were from this region.
Seventy eight percent of participants drive gasoline vehicles. Eight percent drive hybrid vehicles. Another eight percent drive vehicles classified as “other.” Four percent drive electric vehicles. One percent drive diesel vehicles. One percent drive plug in hybrid vehicles.
For race or ethnicity, participants self identified as the following: eighty five percent Caucasian or white, five percent Asian (excluding Indian), four percent Hispanic, three percent American Indian or Alaska Native, two percent African American, one percent Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander, one percent Indian subcontinent, two percent other or none of the above, and three percent preferred not to answer.
The household income distribution for participants included: forty three percent earned between fifty thousand dollars and one hundred thousand dollars, twenty percent earned between twenty five thousand dollars and fifty thousand dollars, seventeen percent earned between one hundred thousand dollars and two hundred thousand dollars, seven percent earned less than twenty five thousand dollars, six percent earned more than two hundred thousand dollars, and five percent preferred not to answer.
